My Homes in Ankara: Part 1 - Mamak

We stay in Mamak with his granny, which is about 5km from Kizilay city centre during the weekdays and we travel 25km from Mamak to his hometown at Lalahan for the weekends to visit his parents. Spending 5 days in the bustling city, we look forward to going back to Lalahan because there is where we get to enjoy nature and serenity with delicious local home cooked food!

I am going to tell you about a very interesting lady. Here she is:

PROFILE:
Known as: Babanne (paternal grandma)
Age: 80
Vision: 5/20
Marital Status: Widow
Descendants: 2 Children (1M, 1F), 5 Grandchildren (2M, 3F), 1 Greatgrandson
Fav TV ad: Çaykur (Turkish tea)
Fav TV Channel: TRT 1
Fav Past times: Watching TV, sitting by the window sipping her cup of tea, filling bottles with water and talking Turkish to me.
Fav Tagline: “ooohhh...Bu çay içilmez mi?” “Çaykur, Türkiye’de çay ondan sorulur.” (from Çaykur ad) - She never fails to say this in every breakfast!

It’s amazing how we can understand each other sometimes when we don’t even speak each other’s language but I must admit that my Turkish improved a lot because of her. I was forced to practise the language for the sake of communication. What can I say… she is simply… intriguing… disturbingly provocative and challenging.

As a result of her poor vision and her favourite past time of filling bottles, she has successfully proved (unintentionally), an experimental truth of.......
The Archimedes's Principle of Buoyancy -->

BRAVO! *clap*clap*clap*

*Note to myself: Don't forget to buy olive oil...
